Research Themes

Our studies examine the impact of economic factors, management and policy on innovation and science, while we work closely with stakeholders in policy, industry and the third sector.

We believe strongly in the mutual fertilization of problem-driven research defined by stakeholders, and theory-driven research defined by our own academic curiosity. Engagement and dissemination are also fundamental to our activities.

Our research covers a broad range of topics, grouped into the following dedicated themes:

Our thematic structure does not limit our approach, however and many topics cut across these themes: new research avenues and synergies are constantly being explored. Our large PhD programme has grown in the same spirit. Up to 50 PhD students are fully integrated into our research activities. As such we play a key role in developing the next generation of researchers in our field who are capable of leading-edge, theory-driven research that is rigorously challenged academically, and also produce work that has strong relevance to society, policy and industry.
